The Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 001 Building, 1820 Cornwall

Inner Circle Management prepared and submitted a proposal on behalf of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 001 to the City of Regina, for consideration by the Urban Development Agreement committee (UDA).  This application for funding ($100,000) was approved in July 2007.

The funding was intended to enable us to develop a detailed business plan and detailed architectural designs and engineer reports for the proposed renovation of the Legion Building.  As outlined in the ArtsAction Feasibility Study, the proposal for this building included creating a new theatre space for use by a number of local emerging theatre, dance and music artists, creating a new home for the Regina Plains Museum, and upgrading the Legion’s Vimy Lounge and offices.

In addition to developing a detailed business plan and detailed designs, this phase of development was also intended to establish a new governance model for the building.  While the building will remain the property of the Legion Branch, the advancing age of Legion members and their declining membership require serious consideration for the future management and maintenance of the facility.

The Legion Executive has since accepted the offer of funding from the City of Regina, and have engaged Ken Wilson to undertake the contract.  We hope it all works out and wish them the best!
